Building a new home in Kittitas County?

Did you know that Kittitas County has a “Wildland Urban Interface” or WUI Code? This is a set of building codes for all unincorporated areas of the county to reduce structure risk from wildfires. This helps homeowners and first responders in the case of a fire.

If you’re building a new home, you should read up on these codes

Learn more about all building codes at the Kittitas County Community Development Services website (www.co.kittitas.wa.us/cds/building/), and find the specific WUI Code in Chapter 20.10.

In May 2017, agencies, stakeholders and community members met to express concerns for wildfire related issues in Kittitas County. Recognizing the importance of the issues of fire adapted communities, the meetings continued and the Kittitas Fire Adapted Communities Coalition (KFACC) was formed.
